In our humble opinion here at Infinity & Beyond Travel, frankly what’s not to love about a luxury holiday to Turks and Caicos? This low-slung thread of idyllic islands strung out in the Caribbean Sea, just south of the Bahamas, has it all: from impossibly perfect, bone-white beaches to warm azure seas teeming with dive spots and marine life alike. Plus, with 40 individual islands and islets making up this mini archipelago – although only 8 of which are inhabited – there’s no shortage of secluded, secret spots here too. So, as winter well and truly sets in and Christmas approaches, we thought it the perfect time to remind ourselves just why the tropical haven of Turks and Caicos is so timeless, and so good. Though of course, no five-star island escape is complete without a world-class resort to return to each day, such as the phenomenal Amanyara and COMO Parrot Cay, both of which deserve a special mention and earn every ounce of the enviable reputation as two of the finest retreats in the region.
Travel to Turks and Caicos, a paradise island experience
Of the many reasons to book a luxury trip to Turks and Caicos, there’s something in particular that instantly springs to mind: beaches, beaches and more pristine sandy beaches! And they really are pristine, award-winning too, with many considering Grace Bay on Providenciales Island the best beach in the world! It’s really not hard to see why, though it’s not only Grace Bay, as the whole archipelago is a treasure trove of irresistibly iconic swathes of soft, chalky sand slowly merging with lapping cobalt waters beyond, all peppered with the odd thicket of coastal foliage covering shallow dunes, palm trees, and one or two rocky outcrops; perfect for spotting marine life.
Which actually brings us onto another highlight of Turks and Caicos, the unforgettable scuba diving and snorkelling to be done in the immaculate waters which connect these heavenly shores. Corals, tropical fish and turtles are all regular residents here, so even beginners can’t help but be in awe of what’s on offer beneath the waves, best enjoyed while luxuriating on an afternoon boat trip with a BBQ meal, naturally. However, for the odd moment that isn’t spent on the beach, elsewhere around Turks and Caicos you have some truly exceptional five-star boutique resorts, both local-style restaurants and fine dining eating options, water sports, music and culture to uncover across the main islands of Grand Turk, Providenciales, North and Middle Caicos, Salt Cay and South Caicos. Then, with little over 30,000 residents and not a main road in sight, finding your own slice of paradise to disappear to here in Turks and Caicos is also part of the appeal.
Hand-picked, exclusive Turks and Caicos resorts
When booking a trip with Infinity & Beyond Travel, you can be sure that each and every one of the hotels, resorts, lodges and retreats that we recommend has been hand-picked, carefully considered and chosen only with our travelling guests in mind. Well, our preferred luxury Turks and Caicos hotels are certainly no different. Some may say that in such a stunningly beautiful place, the resort you stay in will always come second to the natural beauty surrounding you throughout each day. This may be true, but nonetheless we know the difference between a good hotel and an exceptional one, that both allows these divine islands to speak for themselves while also ensuring the ultimate in onsite indulgences, attention to detail and outright individuality too. A five-star stay in Turks and Caicos certainly deserves the best of both these worlds, and for us, two of the finest resorts that offer just this (and more on top) are Amanyara and COMO Parrot Cay.
Amanyara Turks and Caicos
A heady fusion of-east meets-west design styles, holistic spa services and treatments good enough to rival any wellness centre in the world, plus a private white sand beach nearly 1km long, all come together in harmony at the unmistakable Amanyara Turks and Caicos. Hidden away on the archipelago’s western side, Amanyara is already ahead of the game for anyone seeking seclusion, intimacy and romance in droves, added to a tangible sense of exclusivity that owes much to both the resort’s isolated location and also its cutting-edge décor scheme. This is a place of glass-like infinity pools and decorative ponds, luxe low-level daybeds, deep-soaking bathtubs in your suites and a contemporary minimalism that says nothing but – relax. Then you have the kind of gastronomic experience at Amanyara that lives long in the memory indeed, and if you don’t believe us, book a private table on your already perfect private beach, wait for the butler as the sun begins to set, and think again!
Parrot Cay by COMO
Infinitely cool and easy on the eye, winner of multiple awards and admirably keeping watch over its own private island for many years, COMO Parrot Cay is a luxury Turks and Caicos resort that essentially enters a league of its own. Blissfully, here lies a hotel that can provide that authentic paradise island escape, one that also happens to include private-pool villas, wellness therapies that take their inspiration everywhere from Japan to the Middle East and a superb, exclusive beach club too. Then there’s the endless offerings of beautiful fine dining, with cuisine so refined, so artistically crafted and considerately sourced it simply cannot be improved, until gentle live music begins in the background to well and truly complete your sense of place each evening. Verdant native greenery surrounds you at COMO Parrot Cay, as do untouched private beaches, the occasional sunset cruise, floodlit tennis courts, diving and water sports, while the resort itself is designed and adorned with such style, subtle flair and elegance that few could claim to match. A shrinking violet COMO Parrot Cay is not, and Turks and Caicos is all the better for it!
