As well as its stylish cities, Malaysia is home to paradisiacal islands. The 104 islands in the Andaman Sea are located some 30 kilometres off the mainland and they’re as beautiful as they are far flung. One such beauty is Langkawi; officially known as Langkawi the Jewel of Kedah you’ll soon discover why its name is quite so fancy. The whole island glimmers like a precious stone, with dense emerald jungle, shimmering pearlescent beaches of soft sand and deep aquamarine waters. As well as the beautiful hotels with their spas and facilities you’ll find a rural idyll home to traditional wooden villages called kampung, seafood shacks and beach bars, plus locals going about their way unchanged as they have done for centuries.
