Verdura Golf & Spa Resort

Sicily

OVERVIEW

What do you want from a family holiday in the sun? A great beach, a good restaurant, nice heated swimming pools perhaps? For the kids, how about a club so you can offload the brood for a few hours while you enjoy the spa or a game of tennis? These are all the things that make up a ‘good’ family holiday, and then there is Rocco Forte Verdura Resort in Sicily.

Verdura offers fantastic family holidays. It is at once enormously chic and yet totally family friendly. The spa, a vision in creamy stone and earthy hues, has a huge amount of wellness programmes and treatments to choose from, enriched with organic plant oils from around the island. It is also a very child-friendly hotel with mini-manicures, massages and facials for the little ones to enjoy. The kids club is second to none, with a friendly hedgehog mascot on hand to hold themed activities based around history, astrology, gardening and language.

Bicycles are available if you wish to explore the surrounding countryside, or you can hire one of the resort’s boats for a trip to a nearby coastal village or island. Alternatively, opt to simply relax on the beach.

When to travel

Like much of Italy, August is peak season in Sicily when an exodus of Italians arrives on its shores to enjoy the superb weather and excellent beaches. Due to its southerly location the island stays pleasant well into late October, with the season starting earlier in late April and early May.

WEATHER: Sicily’s Mediterranean climate means hot, dry summers and warm, wet winters, with its mountainous terrain resulting in regional variations in climate.
