The Chedi Muscat
OVERVIEW
Set along a stretch of golden sandy beach in 21 acres of manicured gardens, slip behind the whitewashed walls of The Chedi and you’ll find yourself whisked away from it all. The peaceful resort feels miles from anywhere, with the dramatic crags of the Al Hajar Mountains rising behind and the Gulf of Oman lapping gently out front.
However, at just a short transfer from the airport and centrally located among the modern quarter of Oman’s charming capital, you could not be better placed to explore the friendly desert country. Moorish influences make the hotel blend seamlessly with the Arabic architecture, from water gardens and arched hallways to lantern-lined reception areas.
The masterpiece and focal point of the resort is the Long Pool, aptly named as at 103 metres long it’s said to be the longest in the Middle East. This is the pool for people watching and donning your most glamorous shades, but there are another two to choose from, as well as that beach, so you’ve got plenty of space for sun worshipping.
