The Annabelle
OVERVIEW
Having recently celebrated its 30th birthday, The Annabelle on Paphos’ wildly beautiful Mediterranean coast remains one of Cyprus’ most favourite hotels to this day. The hotel is popular with British holiday makers offering a home-from-home experience that takes care of all your needs, especially for those travelling with children.
It’s got everything you could possibly desire on holiday onsite, but is within walking distance of Paphos’ pretty harbour and the Roman mosaics that many venture out to visit. Surrounded by lush, tropical gardens, the rooms have terraces and sea views and some come with plunge pool (great if you’re not travelling with children!).
While Cyprus has a number of excellent restaurants the hotel has some excellent choices of its own, including Fontana, so you won’t feel like you’ve missed out if you stay in. We particularly loved the breakfasts, which include Mediterranean choices but also a few options you don’t usually expect in the Med, such as porridge and baked beans (not together!) and American-style pancakes served with proper bacon. Delicious!

Where to stay
The Annabelle has 218 rooms divided into a whopping 18 categories. We’d recommend choosing one of the rooms overlooking the water feature and the wedding gazebo – these are the calmer, quieter ones. Inside, décor comprises earthy tones that reflect the Mediterranean with extremely comfortable beds. Some even have working fireplaces, which helps if you are visiting in the off season.

What to do
The Annabelle’s location is perfect whatever type of holiday you want: it’s just an eight-minute stroll to the beach for sun worshippers, while culture lovers can head to Kato Paphos for an abundance of ancient history and archaeological sites and foodies will love sampling the traditional waterfront tavernas at Paphos harbour. If you’d rather relax, visit the resort’s sauna, or pop to the sister property next door for a spa treatment.
