Gran Bahia Del Duque Resort
Tenerife
OVERVIEW
Draped canopied beds, Michelin-starred chefs and first-class pampering: the Hotel Gran Bahia del Duque is one of Tenerife’s most exclusive resorts. In a village-style setting on a swathe of sandy beach, the resort blends amazing facilities with a beautiful setting, right on the luxurious promenade of Costa Adeje. The sheltered beach is beautifully well-kept and feels like an extension of the resort itself. Nearby there are plenty of stylish restaurants, label-laden designer stores and plenty of walkways to explore.
Inside the resort you’ll find a stunningly landscaped mock-village layout, designed to look like a traditional Canarian village. Even though the resort is large it feels deceptively intimate and not at all contrived, despite the church towers, plazas and quaint streets. All of the accommodation and public areas is centred round the five swimming pools in small clusters, linked by walkways and galleries so strolling can be a genuine pastime.
When the resort opened some 20 years ago it set a precedent for Tenerife’s luxury hotels – a mantle it still holds today. Service is attentive and unobtrusive, but there will always be someone near if you need them.

Where to stay
Accommodation is spread between Bahia del Duque, the colonial Casas Ducales estate and Las Villas. Casas Ducales rooms and suites offer a dedicated reception staff and additional privacy, larger bathrooms and bigger floor space, an exclusive restaurant and Acqua di Parma toiletries. The 40 villas have a private reception and pool away from the main hotel. 24-hour butler service comes as standard and the décor is designed with volcanic stone, wood and basalt stone recessed baths.

What to do
Make a splash with a paddle surf lesson or take to the skies paragliding or fly boarding. Children will love the facilities at the fairytale Duqui Club where they become ‘Young Dukes’ for the day. Michael Novotny is the resort’s resident physiotherapist and can create a bespoke programme for you to rebalance. We particularly love the thalassotherapy facilities; think sea water hydro-massage jets, bubble beds and waterfalls. And relax.
