Denis Private Island
OVERVIEW
If you want to completely switch off from the outside world we’ve found just the place. Denis Private Island in idyllic Seychelles is blissfully remote and devoid of any technological conveniences. Stay in one of the beautiful ecologically-conscious cottages and you’ll find woven grass ceilings, romantically-draped nets and tranquil courtyards – but no televisions or indeed mobile reception.
If the thought of being wrenched from your devices for even a short period of time fills you with dread then have no fear – the island does have one television and there’s free internet access in the library. Here the emphasis is more on rambling around at your own pace and getting back to nature.
The lack of tech means you can truly remove yourself from life back at home and spend your days exploring the island, where you’ll find a 100-year old lighthouse, a resident tortoise and a tiny chapel. And if your mind really needs some stimulation, there are plenty of board games and billiards to play in the evenings.

Where to stay
With just 25 rustic cottages, the island is never crowded. This is the place to get away from it all. There are no televisions in the room and your mobile phone will not get a signal. Instead you’ll find open-air bathrooms, alfresco showers and private courtyards full of flowers and plants. The feeling is intensely private, shielded by casuarina plants and coconut trees, just steps from the silky soft sands.
