Belmond Villa San Michele

Florence

OVERVIEW

Peering down from the town of Fiesole just 15 minutes from Florence, Belmond Villa San Michele is a hilltop hotel in a converted 15th century convent set amid beautiful landscaped gardens. A courtesy shuttle can take you into the centre of Florence in just a quarter of an hour, but with surroundings this picturesque we won’t blame you for staying put.

Villa San Michele is a grand hotel with a colonnaded façade designed by none other than Michelangelo himself, so if it’s history you’re after (but you’re keen to avoid Florence’s crowded streets) you’ll find it in abundance in pretty Fiesole. The pleasures on offer here are simple: dine alfresco in the Loggia with views over the twinkling Tuscan hills; walk among the fragrant rose gardens or take a dip in the hilltop swimming pool, to name a few. To immerse yourself fully in the area’s Tuscan charms you could opt for one of the signature suites affording beautiful views over the city.

You’re ideally located for getting out and about around the region to savour the Renaissance splendour of Florence, the breath-taking Tuscan countryside, ancient Siena or the rolling vineyards where plenty of wineries open their doors for tastings.
