Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo
Sicily
OVERVIEW
If views in the World were ranked in order then the panoramic vistas from Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo would surely feature close to the top. From the bedrooms, the gardens and the terrace bar, views rain down on the hotel from up high. Mount Etna looms large, its ash-stippled flanks visible from miles around but perhaps best viewed from the hotel. From your vantage point at the Timeo the medieval rooftops appear close enough to touch, while the swirling waters of the Mediterranean and its hidden coves can be gazed upon from the rooms.
The views from The Restaurant, the hotel’s main dining establishment, are just as spectacular and you would therefore be forgiven for missing what is on your plate. Thankfully though, the delicate and beautifully-presented dishes placed before you are quite spectacular themselves. From spiny lobster to parsnip gnocchi, think of your supper as an education in Sicilian cuisine. In typical Belmond style, the pool restaurant is home to a salad buffet of impressive proportions, as well as a sumptuous pizza oven.

When to travel
Like much of Italy, August is peak season in Sicily when an exodus of Italians arrives on its shores to enjoy the superb weather and excellent beaches. Due to its southerly location the island stays pleasant well into late October, with the season starting earlier in late April and early May.
WEATHER: Sicily’s Mediterranean climate means hot, dry summers and warm, wet winters, with its mountainous terrain resulting in regional variations in climate.
