Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort

OVERVIEW

Set tantalisingly close to Cannes and the French Riviera, Terre Blanche Hotel Spa Golf Resort is one of the world’s finest resorts, a relaxing realm of French style and cuisine within its own expansive estate that encompasses both coast and country.

Spread over 750 acres of stunning Provençale countryside, the hotel is essentially a village in its own right, overlooking the medieval hill towns, lush valleys and mountains of the surrounding Var countryside. Inside you’ll find traditional Provençale touches melded with modern design, rooms and public areas sprinkled with original sculptures and paintings from the owner’s private modern art collection and more facilities than you can imagine needing on a break in the sun. When you’ve explored the grounds and the surrounding area there’s an impressive spa to retire to, though the active among you will appreciate the two championship golf courses.

As stylish as the nearby Riviera but with none of the see-and-be-seen attitude that comes with the Côte d’Azur, Terre Blanche offers understated, laid back elegance at its finest. Hire a car to explore the scenic drives around the estate and head up into the towns to sample Provençale delicacies – the area is a renowned gastronomic hotspot and the cheese and salami are some of the best you’ll encounter.

What to do

Terre Blanche is nestled into the Provencal hills, encircled by medieval villages and forested valleys. The estates 750 acres of outside space should keep you fairly well occupied, but if you’d like to head out to the Riviera it’s just a 35-minute drive to Cannes iconic Croisette. There’s an enormous spa, and a rather beautiful infinity pool that laps against a panorama of rolling hills. Of course golf is a highlight, with two 18-hole courses and a training academy to explore; there’s also tennis and petanques for the golf-averse. The team can organise almost anything, from Nordic walking to helicopter touring.

What and Where to Eat

Terre Blanche has four fantastic onsite restaurants, including Michelin-starred Le Faventia. Provencal flavours are the key here, including organic Pays d’Oc lamb, a spit roast kitchen and honey from the estates beehives a highlight. Visit on Sundays in low season and try Le Gaudina’s champagne brunches serenaded by the gentle tinkling of a live piano. Each morning enjoy a buffet-style breakfast with homemade gluten-free pastries from the hotel’s bread oven.
