Carlisle Bay Antigua
OVERVIEW
In a fabulous setting on its very own south coast beach, Carlisle Bay Antigua is blessed with splendid isolation to ensure your holiday can be enjoyed in the utmost privacy. Guests are still within easy access of English Harbour. You’ll find plenty of boat trips available nearby, but when you’ve got it this good why would you want to leave?
When the hotel opened in 2003 it set a new, luxurious standard for the Caribbean. Gone were the outdated, blousy florals and in were the sophisticated stylings, soothing neutrals and a sigh-inducing spa. Despite its understated nature the charm of the West Indies shines through. The petite spa is something else, too. Glamour pusses will enjoy facials by Voya and you can try out all manner of wraps, massages and scrubs. There are even treatments just for teens.
Rooms are just as chic as the rest of the hotel. Expect contemporary designs, muted colours and dark wood furniture, all accented by a splash of vibrant bougainvillea on the veranda.

What to do
While you may not want to leave the 500 metres of crescent beach, there is plenty to keep the young and not so young busy at Carlisle Bay. There is the PADI Bubblemaker programme, aimed at introducing children from the age of eight to the underwater world of scuba. Perhaps you would prefer hopping onto the resort’s new cruising yacht for a trip to the UNESCO Heritage Site of Nelson’s Dockyard or a helicopter flight over the island.

What and Where to Eat
There are four restaurants to choose from at Carlisle Bay, all with different cuisines to suit any palate. If you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere, then head to Indigo on the Beach. For a taste of the Orient, then East is the place for you; after all, it is one of the best Asian restaurants on the island. Romantics can experience dinner for two on the jetty and families can have flexible timings to suit their little one’s sleeping schedule.
